I am not a rose person. If you’ve read my previous posts you know I love peonies. I only have a rose-bush because more than a decade ago my father-in-law gave me a rose-bush and it has managed to survive in spite of my ignoring it.
I’ve just read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I thoroughly enjoyed the book — both the fiction and non-fiction components. This gives it away if you haven’t read the book but it is a murder mystery interwoven with the search for the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail being Mary Magdalene. The Holy Grail is said to be buried under the rose. The book is full of symbology like Λ is the symbol for male. And V is the symbol for female. Although it was not what I was taught in Sunday School — I have since been exposed (from various sources) to the fact that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had a child named Sarah — so that I was not shocked when I read this in the book.
I was also not shocked when I started to see or hear things that reminded me of the book. Most of my posts have been about — “you get what you focus your thoughts on”. I would turn on TV and a character’s name was rose or I heard a song about a rose or I saw a rose-breasted grosbeak.
I would see symbols that reminded me of Λ and V. I have also seen “symbols” that remind me of Sarah — but that one I choose not to explain. What did shock me is when I did my weed whacking today and noticed I had a rose in bloom. It was a beautiful red rose just like I visualized every time I read the word “rose” in the book.
So why is this shocking? These are photos from my rose-bush last year: My rose-bush is NOT RED. So can I prove that my thinking about red roses for the last week or so changed my roses to red — nope. But faith isn’t about proof. Believe whatever explanation brings you joy. But me! I’m going to work extra hard at making sure my thoughts are loving and kind and peaceful.
Have you every had flowers just change to a different color? If you’ve read my peony post than you’ll know it is the second time it has happened for me.
