“Life is available only in the present. That is why we should walk in such a way that every step can bring us to the here and now,” by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Normally at this point in my post I discuss what I learned from the day before. But if I did that it would take me from the present moment.
Today’s Intention: Exist with nature for as long as possible.
I don’t just exist in the moment.
Sometimes my labels are just illusions.
These photos were taken ~15 hours apart and a couple of hundred yards apart. But are these photos real or illusion? I think most everyone on the planet now agrees that the sun doesn’t actually rise or set — it’s an illusion created because the earth rotates.
The previous paragraph is what I want to avoid today. I want to just experience birds singing, feel the breeze on my face, absorb the moment. I invite you today to experience nature — no earbuds playing music — no cellphones — no conversation with companions…
If your first response to this idea was that you can’t because you live in a city or are disabled or it would be dangerous due to your current weather — do the best you can. Explore the wonderful nature photography that so many of our fellow bloggers have posted. The other day I watched a show on Yellowstone National Park on PBS — it was totally absorbing. Find a recording of bird songs or ocean waves… No it will not be quite the totally immersive experience of standing in the woods BUT any shift in my perspective toward love to me is a good thing…
I am hoping that it is much easier for love to find its way through my armor if I let myself experience peace instead of the strife-filled thoughts I normally stew in. May peace and love be absorbed into every cell of your being today.
